PostSubject: 415 Team meeting reports 2009   Sun Mar 29, 2009 10:43 am

Russ was running late, he eventually arrived at 5:45 but all the work was done so just a case of scrutineering and fetch the water (I forgot how heavy two 25ltr barrels full are pale ).

Russ went out for the W & Y first race of the evening for the ones. The car was running sick, misfiring and power was well down but he got third place at the finish and got a nice trophy. I took it off back to the pits it wouldn't tick over so it cut out several times (no I didn't keep stalling it if thats what was thought Razz ).

Back at the pits Russ diagnosed that the fuel line connection was weeping as the rubber 'O' ring seal at the connecton to the carb was the fault so a new one was fitted and then tested. It ran fine now with no leaks and the engine idled just as it should. Unfortunately with only one Ministox race beteen the W & Y heat and heat one proper it wasn't fixed in time so we had to miss heat one.

Heat two the car was now running as it should and a tenth place finish was the result but not before a hard hit by FWJ in the closing laps that Russ asked who it was as he "felt that one". I again took the car off but no having to keep restarting it.

The Final. No changes to the car just the fuel re filled and Russ finished a creditable seventh behind Richard Bryan 238 after a long battle, Richard was driving good.

The G.N. Russ decided to change the inside front tyre for a better one and a slight tweak of the inside rear spring for the last race of the night for the ones. Good job we missed heat one really as that was the last of the fuel. Russ again drove well and this time got the better of 238 and finished a very good fifith.

Russ drove it straight onto the trailer and we loaded up and headed for the bar. Russ went to pick up his money and he discovered he'd won the grade award too and collected another trophy and a bit more cash.

A good night for us barring the misfire at the start the prise money paid for the meeting for Russell who unfortunatley has to cut back this season but he hopes to be at Coventry this Saturday.

Just to add to your report Steve (wvm) I have just booked in for coventry after working on the car all day. The car is ready but arofoil needs some welding. See you all there on saturday where you can all catch up with the world renowned (wvm) who should be in attendance with the 415 racing team. Cheers Russ.

Massavie apolagies to the promotion, my mechanics and fans for what can only be described as bad car preparation with no spare half shaft with me the correct length. I have 3 ends at the engineers now being sorted and will have 2 spare half shafts avalible from now on the correct length. Once again sorry. See you all at Kings Lynn for the double header. Cheers Russ.

Do you know I am sure that you should not have to apologise for anything or anyone. Although I do not get to many meetings these days, I and most other fans of the sport, fully appreciate the amount of time, effort and money it takes just to get to the track. I don't know you but I assume you have a job and family to worry about as well. If it was not for the sheer dedication of drivers there would be no sport. Good luck with the rest of your season,

Bloody hell Cooper, your useless man Mad And wheres your dedication, aren't you coming North to the Vue on Monday or did it frighten you too much last time Shocked Shocked

Seriously though Russ theres nothing to apologise for, if anyone had seen the effort you put in at K.L. last year to change the clutch and starter then the could never doubt you determination to get out on track.

Personaly I feel sorry for you having travelled all that way to only do a couple of laps Shocked

Kings Lynn 25/26th May.

Saturday evenings racing wasn't good really, although Russ got a second place in the whites & yellows race the car was running below par. The side panels were taken off to be able to replace the spark plugs and while they were being changed two of the crimped HT lead ends came off so they had to be re crimped on so heat 2 was missed. Russ went out for the consolation and the engine was running much better but after being spun by Waggy it ran flat again. Back in the pits Russ checked the carb set up and then went out for the G.N. The engine now ran as it should and lasted the whole race but unfortunately out of the top ten finishers.

Sunday afternoon Russ didn't get anything of note in the W & Y race or the rest of the races he was in. It over heated after waved yellow period so Russ pulled off while in the lead to save the engine and we had to pass a photographer a watering can to give to Russ to cool it down. The GN something broke and Russ had to be brought off with a tractor and it was discovered the prop shaft had broken.

Another bad meeting for us but the BBQ and socialising was good on the Sat night.
