Russ was running late, he eventually arrived at 5:45 but all the work was done so just a case of scrutineering and fetch the water (I forgot how heavy two 25ltr barrels full are

).
Russ went out for the W & Y first race of the evening for the ones. The car was running sick, misfiring and power was well down but he got third place at the finish and got a nice trophy. I took it off back to the pits it wouldn't tick over so it cut out several times (no I didn't keep stalling it if thats what was thought

).
Back at the pits Russ diagnosed that the fuel line connection was weeping as the rubber 'O' ring seal at the connecton to the carb was the fault so a new one was fitted and then tested. It ran fine now with no leaks and the engine idled just as it should. Unfortunately with only one Ministox race beteen the W & Y heat and heat one proper it wasn't fixed in time so we had to miss heat one.
Heat two the car was now running as it should and a tenth place finish was the result but not before a hard hit by FWJ in the closing laps that Russ asked who it was as he "felt that one". I again took the car off but no having to keep restarting it.
The Final. No changes to the car just the fuel re filled and Russ finished a creditable seventh behind Richard Bryan 238 after a long battle, Richard was driving good.
The G.N. Russ decided to change the inside front tyre for a better one and a slight tweak of the inside rear spring for the last race of the night for the ones. Good job we missed heat one really as that was the last of the fuel. Russ again drove well and this time got the better of 238 and finished a very good fifith.
Russ drove it straight onto the trailer and we loaded up and headed for the bar. Russ went to pick up his money and he discovered he'd won the grade award too and collected another trophy and a bit more cash.
A good night for us barring the misfire at the start the prise money paid for the meeting for Russell who unfortunatley has to cut back this season but he hopes to be at Coventry this Saturday.
