I've always wondered - why are avatars called avatars?

It's a Hindu word for incarnation

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

the reeves & mortimer 'masterchef' sketch might just be the greatest piece of comedy telly ever produced.

macabre, but highly amusing.

Their comedy is the product of a very warped mind......Lloyd Grossman with his huge head "floating" across the ground.......Barry White with his tiny legs chucking raw liver on the fire.......Uncle Peter!!......The Thinkers.....Mulligan and O'Hare.....all very bizzarre, and very funny!!

Nothing tops the "man with the stick" or Les being threatened with the chives. Big night out was top quality.

it was always the little 'touches' that impressed me... yes lloyd grossman with a gigantic head and ok to having a knife and fork for forefingers but why was he floating ? and if you listen why is there a church bell ringing in the background ?

the 'stars in their eyes' sketch... if you look very closely why has matthew kelly got a tiny gallows on the top of his head ?

bizarre is right Razz

yeah - difficult one really.

i struggle to stay ON topic to be honest, but i mean no harm.

on the subject of child-friendly avatars, i work in a school and am a volunteer at the local pre-school playgroup, and i'm afraid, that as dull a red-blooded male it makes me seem, it's sometimes easy to forget our responsibilities towards the 'safety' of any children who might view this or any other forum, whether through 'dodgy' avatar use or just bad or inappropriate language.

i usually use this uncannily accurate seaweed representation of my face as an avatar on forums, but i recently shaved my head, and now need to find a decent photograph of a boiled egg.

Embarassed
