Sounds fair Martin, a bit of banter about engines is fair enough but talk of who's budget/expenditure is biggest is bordering on unfair in m opinion. Drivers will always spend what they are comfortable with (and a little more I guess) and some budgets will be bigger than others. One thing I do know is there are NO "cheque book racers" in stox, it jut don't work. No matter what you spend, hard work is a must and probably counts for as much if not more than pure cash?

Here, here it is up to the driver how much they spend on their cars, both in terms of time and money. It doesn't need speculation like this. |

Bumpers can be changed for next to nothing if you make them yourself, and most drivers would do. |
Might not sound much but if replacing then a number of times it does all start to add up |
You reckon a few bumper changes each year would out weigh a new outside rear tyre every meeting?
Engines, Tyres, and fuel is where most of the money goes once the car is bought. But obviously you can spend anywhere from 2 - 3k on a chassis up to 30k plus.
But like its been said previously, its really nobody's business who spends what. However would be interesting to see what peoples power and torque numbers look like, but the biggest challenge is getting the power down most of the time. |

| Blah Blah Blah. all been said before. Money doesn't buy success. I know that wasn't the original question but it really is irrelevent isn't it? We have had loads of drivers in the past with a big budget who just can't hack it, likewise we have all speculated on the economy drivers who need a bit of cash. It's not what you have in terms of money, its the talent that counts. Is the real question who does the best on the smallest budget? |

| Cannot believe Im reading about drivers finances. Let me see now. Im FWJ with his feet up at home, after a hard days work, and alerted to the ol talk of the town whispers about how much the man spends on racing!!! I say all this with tongue in cheek, it's just that I cannot believe this is being discussed. Next we'll be talking about taxes for prize money next. Does this ever end...................... |

Errrrrrrrrr Based on last load of steel, bumpers cost @30 pounds in materials (inc welding rods) and fully welded take about 3 hrs to make. With all the bracings, etc and cutting off old, fitting new, there a couple of hours works (obviously less for a quick fix in the pits). So for most of the drivers its just a time issue - if you havent got 30 quid to spend on a bumper then its probably better just watching!.
As for the rest of the topic, it's obvious that those who pay to get things done can end up spending more than those who do it all themselves (ie that total 5 hrs + materials to put on a bumper would cost more like 150 pounds if you paid someone to do it). |

| You guys crack me up at times!! I dont care less about how much people spend, perhaps it slightly wrongly worded / phrased but what im getting at is who's got the advantage car wise in your opinion. I personally think theres nothing between Wainman 515 and Smith 391 i think wainman kit is slightly inferior to smiths i also think stuarts is on a par with wainmans my opinion not fact opinion. Forums are about opinions, ive made no personal attack on anyone, unlike some posts i read which are disgusting or is it becoming that to make an opinion these days you have to weigh it in favour of 391. Ive no particular preference to anyone just trying to stir some interesting debate!! Remember it's just a bit of fun I never have and never will |
