i was flag marshalling last night and it was awful (completely covered in mud by end of final) so i can only imagine how bad it was for drivers

Its the spectators I feel sorry for, it must of been awful for them under the cover on the back straight or sitting in the grandstand. Even the commentators didn't have it easy with the commentary box windows steaming up!

Very Happy

You surely cant tell me Cov stadium with all that money and clout cant secure 8 f2 meetings what a load of tosh.

I think you will find the sunroof comment was a joke to lighten the mood but it certainly worked. I have no idea who is the new commentator there but he is very good indeed.
Shame the same kind of jokey manner was given to the F1 stranded on the back straight lap after lap with Yellows raised and finally the drivers mech or father had to go up to the fence to check for himself before going mad and chucking a fire extingusiher onto the track as the car was alight. Yet again attrocius marshalling at COventry[/quote

I AM ONE OF THE MARSHALLS AT COVENTRY(FRONT STRAIGHT) AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW YOU CAN EVEN COME UP WITH YOUR FINAL SENTENCE. iF YOU READ THROUGH THE COMMENTS FROM THIS YEAR
ON HERE AND ON STOXNET I CAN ONLY THINK OF 1 INCIDENT THAT RAISED NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND THIS WAS EXPLAINED AND UNDERSTOOD AFTER I DISCUSSED IT WITH THE PERSON CONCERNED.
IF YOU THINK THE MARSHALLING IS THAT BAD WHY DONT YOU GIVE IT A GO.

I've been going to Coventry for nearly 35 years, and in the eighties and nineties went to every meeting, regardless of the weather. And that included long journeys fromy native East Yorkshire, and then from Dorset. But of late I have lost the urge to go. I even emailed Coventry with my concerns about price and value for money, especially when the F2's were dropped. I had never complained to any promotor before, and my criticism was constructive, but the emails went unanswered.

Perhaps you should e-mail me direct as I have never received any of your e-mails and I always respond. The dropping of F2 was not our decsion and you will be pleased that we have secured 8 meetings for next year.

Thanks Jeremy. I understand the situation with the two's, but that's great news for next year. I'll be there - count on it!

I learned a couple of things last night at Cov.
You cannot beat Paramo clothing in those sorts of conditions. Keeps you so dry.
There was still actually some great racing even though the conditions were dreadful.
I met a big FWJ fan who has really really good opinions on things.
(Well basically he agreed with everthing I said)
I brought a guest along to the racing last night.
He said it ws brilliant (even though it really was probably one of the worst conditions I can ever remeber)
Hes definately coming back next year.
Said he's going to support 391.
Starnge that.

Make that 3,999
Get down to your local camping shop or onto the internet.
Save up and get it on the Christmas list.
Paramo.
Keeps you warm and dry.

Coventry can only apply for F2 dates whether they are accepted or not is out of their hands.

If you has stood under the backstraight or in the grandstand you would't be wet so it was optional for spectators, unlike all the drivers, mechanics and track staff who had no choice.

The marshall did actually put his flag up for waved yellows, after checking again Malkin Jnr put his thumbs up to say that he was ok. From the marshall position there was no way that he could have seen a fire, and at no point after did Malkin ask for the yellows again.

Shame about last night, but it was really out of Coventrys hands just one of them things

This thread is getting close to overstepping the mark.

Does everyone need to re-read the forum rules?
