Just been reading a topic on Stoxnet re. fuel cells and was wondering how the spec of the one costing £350 compared to the 5 gallon version here http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/dragracecells.html costing just $85?

Just to clarify things. I make it that a US 5 gallon tank is equal to 4.16 UK gallons (or 19L, a 5 gallon tank over here would be 22.75L). I seem to remember FWS was using an old jerry can as a fuel tank, up until a couple of years prior to his retirement. This I believe is where the maximum size fuel tank rule came from (20L ?) and I think you can still use them if you like.

Grafter, those fuel cells look like some sort of moulded plastic. What foam is enclosed in the cell? Use the wrong foam for the fuel used and it can break down/melt and clog up any fuel filters. Bottom mounted outlets are not ideal; any problem with fuel line or outlet and the whole tank will drain without any other form of cut off. Top mounted take off and breather must surely be safer? Are the company Aerospace/FIA/MoD accredited?

Take the quoted price, add on freight charges, add on import duty, VAT and clearance charges, then get an ally or steel tank made to suit; what's the total so far? I bet it wouldn't be too much cheaper than what I quoted.

I'm no expert on these things and was only seeking more info' on the pro's/cons of certain fuel cells. Here is a bit more info' on the one i mlooked at earlier http://www.rjsracing.com/fuelcells.html (can only see SFI approval).
On the subject of import cost I have generally found that the Dollar price comes out at the same price in Pounds after import duty ect.
