Sunday will see the annual Hednesford fireworks meeting, which locally is quite a big event and the place is always completely packed out for the Final and Gn if not the rest of the meeting. Now i hope that im going to be pleasantly suprised but im expecting mid 20's turnouts from both the 1's and 2's for this meeting. As the majority of the crowd will not be regular spectators and are in easy reach of both Birmingham and Coventry i think it would be great to find some way of attracting higher car numbers for this event and really putting a wow factor into the event. If we can get good numbers of cars at Hednesford it can be a brilliant place for both the 1's and 2's and it could well convince people to go along to a Birmingham or Coventry meeting in future. Maybe a drivers parade lap before the Final lines up would be an effective way of getting the crowd involved and personalising the Formulas to casual spectators. As i live down the road i know that people do talk about this meeting alot, and putting on a good show with something to stick in the mind might well get a few more people to take another look in future. If the fog doesnt stop them seeing anything at all

I always enjoy this fixture, but with new H&S now at Hednesford, not being able to go in the pits has put me off going again, so wont be going this weekend....unless im wrong about the pits, but it was all in place last year apart from the gates.

Hednesford used to be quite a good place to watch the 1's and 2's a few years ago when they had 2/3 meetings a year and used to have enough interest from drivers. But i can't see them getting all that many cars this weekend with it being a non meeting. Possibly if they had a world qualifier then they would get atleast 30 cars. Not too sure about the pit issue, as i was there earlier in the year when the european late models were there and there was nothing to stop people from going into the pits, and i don't see why it would be any different for an f1/f2 meeting

It was all fenced off from top of the hill/road section around back of stands to the bottom of the hill right upto the catchfence, maybe they havnt bothered putting the gates on then, but they were saying last year that when the gates are fitted, no public access in the pits, and no smoking in the pits, anyone that smokes had to go out of the pits and sit on the hill to smoke.

Not supposed to smoke in any pits as far as I know, but largely ignored. Something to do with petrol.

The No Smoking sign has been up since at least 1982 Tracks have visits from different Health and Safety Officers...the one that does Hednesford must be REALLY strict! Its a shame..that track has gone from my favourite of alltime to one of my least favourite if I'm being honest, from a spectator point of view. They really need to start making a few changes there and improving the place again. Sure its great f you like sitting in the two grandstands but its too far away there for me. I think stockfan has a point though. Would love to see drivers parades for the odd meeting like this..I think you'll find however very few locals actually at the meeting (just the usual stox fans)..they come in their droves after the racing has finished to get in much cheaper.

Actually the reduced is admission is at 5.30pm before the Finals and Gn of each formula, and the meeting usually has a short break at this point. This is to allow the people who are qeued up outside to get into the stadium before the Finals and Gn's take place. Which is why i thought a drivers parade before the final would be a good idea, as by then the place will be heaving and could add some intrest for the new fan. As far as im also aware you are still able to access the pits, though i completely agree the H&S lengths they have had to go to at hednesford to keep the place open is crazy

Only time i've been to Hedno this season was for the NHR nationals and there was no restrictions on getting into the pits then. _________________ Sarcasm Is The Lowest Form Of Wit......But It Makes Me Laugh Northampton Practise Days Camera Spy www.trackchaser.net
