spoke to graham morris last night at skegness. he could see the merits of giving an easy transition to fms from nmsc thus boosting their depleting numbers and assured me that he would speak to the other members of their club to gain their views on the subject.

Yes for brisca and FMS.

No for ORC .

Fancy going to all that trouble and expense for a formula that was supposed to be a fun formula for kids.
When I did ministox as a kid it was as bent as a nine bob note, standard 850 engines my arse.

Must agree. A space frame for a kids formula? All of a sudden its just lost its attraction.

So you knew it was bent? I just thought it was bent when I saw a car stall at the start then win by a whole lap in a fairly reasonable freld. I think the kid forgot to go easy. Very Happy

There a vids on youtube you can see some are more powerful, when I did it they were supposed to whip the heads off the first three in the ministocks final but never known anybody to lose their places, its a racket that looks like its now going elitist like the unlimited formulas.

The mini's will be racing from the rear of the 1300 saloonstox grid next year it seems, and having no seperate dates at Buxton. Shame really, but maybe too little to late despite best efforts.

Thats overkill, you could run a group B rally engine in a car that strong not a standard mini engine.

Thanks for the pic thats an eye opener.

ever the optimist mr speed.lol your right in saying we will be starting behind the 1300's, but only untill we have the right numbers (as said by DP himself). and as the count of definates go, we are up to 14.

The problem has been that not enough people knew we were still racing. Now we are promoting our own formula things are already looking up.

I mechaniced / help build national ministox for my Nephews on a space frame chassis in 1991 /1992 Shocked

they raced alongside Mick Sworder, Simon Panton, Will Yarrow, Barry Goldin, Billy Tom O'Connor, Wayne and Ian Helliwell, Tony Blackburn, and many more top drivers. Even way back then the ministox were much more complicated than people thought. I am afraid that because they are driven by " young uns " they can be greatly underestimated!! Neutral

You know I hope things work out! I might even have a go myself at some point next year. I still reckon as I did in March though and say you need to be running on cheapo tyres as the 1300 SSC do, as thats one of their most popular points, and why there are so many drivers (Nationwide).

I was thinking the same...the 'brisca' mini's have been built like this for years and its taken until now for a few people to look inside the new 515 car and notice!

I dont see why people have a problem with design build..things progress...if they were running standard minis it would be dangerous as half of them would be rotten by now! Also the costs now are still on par with how they have always costed..you spend as mush as you want to or can do it on a budget..same as ever!

I think the 1300's at Buxton should be spec'd up and the Formula minis slowed down then race them together. 7 or 8 formulas at one meeting is overkill! I still think it confuses the casual / new spectators seeing a formula designed for kids..then a grown man getting out of the car but I'm sure I'll be outnumbered on this topic! Suspect why design a formula for kids..cos they cant race anything else, then the grown ups race them too. scratch

Fair comment on raising specs on 1300s Chris ,and slowing mini,s down. But our concerns would be safety,on average a 1300 wieghs about 300kg more than a mini ,not bad when contact occurs whilst racing. But imagine being stuck in fence when one hits you at racing speed, someone will get seriously hurt ! obviously from a spectators point & even a promoters more cars on track so better entertainment .Only time will tell next year when we start racing with them ,hopefully its loking like we may have enough numbers .I,ve always thought 1300s a good formula, but not at the expense of mini,s.But our formula is a good option certainly for juniors to move into [you only need to look at Warton and how many move up from there juniors].
