Fair comment on raising specs on 1300s Chris ,and slowing mini,s down. But our concerns would be safety,on average a 1300 wieghs about 300kg more than a mini ,not bad when contact occurs whilst racing. But imagine being stuck in fence when one hits you at racing speed, someone will get seriously hurt !

remember the days at high edge when the mini's ran with the big welded-up jags! Shocked

Aye well this is 2009 ,have been to Sunnyvale Gardens when Bonnar Colleano used the race Jags ,Cambridge,s ,etc in his mini and beat them .But this is 2009 and things like H&S are an issue, now before anyone gets carried away, i never thought when i started spectating in 1968 that things like H&S would ever creep into contact racing ,but it has ,and i for one dont want to see anyone hurt ,and with this mix of racing i can see it coming ,remember 300kg is a lot of wieght.

Well there's the answer to a mixed formula then..ballast (or extra bulkhead/door protection) in the mini's to slow them down and equal the weight out

I know what you're saying though.Hadnt really thought that a corsa saloon was so much heavier than ministox. I'd just love to see ONE decent stox saloon formula back at high edge like they used to be week in week out, and not a mix of 2 or 3 similar formula's like they seem to like doing at the moment.

having spoken to dp the door is not shut for the fms.
this being the reason for us speaking to the nmsc teams, whos biggest issue is the direction of racing.

if the direction could be changed now while relatively few cars are within the formula, it would allow teams retiring from nmsc to fund only engine upgrades needed, so keeping costs to a minimum for the transition to fms.

the fms would gain a steady stream of teams on retirement thus boosting their number slowly but surely and give the promoters the confidence that fms can develope over the next few years and not decline. nmsc being the feeder sport.

the other option for nmsc is to sell their car and use the money to enter another formula normally ones or twos but the majority dont enter any other sport and simply disappear due to the expense involved in other formulas.

this post is simply an option for the fms to develope and prosper in the future while giving nmsc teams another cost effective option.

there are no doubt other options to be taken into account and the members of the fms will no doubt make the best and most informed decision for their club.

good luck fms and i would hope my kids will have the option to join you in 3 - 4 and 7 years time.

I really hope things sort themselves out & FMS finally get some decent car numbers as they deserve. Changing their directionof racing is a good idea though.

Well Steve (Team Roper), you've got my vote. As i said in my earlier post, all too many kids race in NMSC then disappear when they reach 16. If FMS could change direction then its just a case of upgrading engines and the kids can carry on racing. NMSC has become one the favourite forms of racing with most fans saying it is their second choice after their favourite formula with some fans even saying they go just to watch the minis! Surely with the numbers of FMS cars it would be in their interest to take this idea seriously.

Firstly I dont quite get this...dont FMS have the option of using ORCi style ministox as well as the Nationals?? There's just as many of each around secondhand

And have Buxton ever thought of running a Ministox formula..thats actually for kids? Or has it been tried and failed?
