PostSubject: National Ministox........for adults!   Mon Oct 26, 2009 7:26 pm

Just walking around the pit area at Scunthorpe on Saturday evening, and seeing the National spec for the Mini's, and I might add, the cars built looked absolutely mint when it came to preparation. These machines have come such a long way to what they used be like years ago. The fabrication work, like the car built for FWJJ looks stunning.........enough!!

My question is, could there ever be a Ministox type car built for adults to race on these circuits in the UK for adults, and I don't mean Autograss!

I'm talking Brisca tracks, Brisca Mini's for adults, pure and simple. Because just one look at the FWJJ car inside and out on Saturday, there has to be a market at some point for something like this to happen.

Just out of interest, would anyone care to hazzard a guess on how much a FWJ built car would cost (providing that FWJ built his son's car!)

its funny but i had a similar conversation with mrs hertzog and a couple of others in the pits at scunthorpe. it was thought that if the kids retireing due to age could move on to another formula with the cars they are racing in nationals may be untill 20 or so it would be supported by alot of teams.
if the minis that race at buxton raced the proper way round this would be an easy move from child to adult. ok so the engines would need to be upgraded but thats all. whats your solution?

They do its brisca that dont, brisca used to race clockwise for years, but went to suit f1 f2 when the centre seat position came in.

it may be that things changed some years ago. but the fact remains that nationals are designed and built to turn left. as has proved in the past the car has to be completely rebuilt to have any real chance of competing.
an easy transition from nationals to adults is the main thing that would keep teams involved.

The minis changed direction to race at cov when they used to have the two pit gates. Nothing to do with seats being in the middle, they have had seats in the middle years before the direction change.

Yes folks there already is an adult ministox formula [formula ministox] they race at Buxton ,1300cc racing clockwise a real good budget formula ,close fast racing, junior mini,s can be easily converted at little cost, ready to race cars are very affordable [i know of a couple for sale]you get one race a month at Buxton ,but also get the opportunity to race at Warton and also Brampton when possible ,both myself 179 and my son 79 race this formula please feel free to ask any questions ,.Its ideal for anyone retiring from juniors who are unable to move up to F1 or F2 etc as they already have the car! 1300 engines easy to get hold of , plus DAD or MUM can race it Very Happy come on you know ya wanna

Just ading to my previous post, having just spoken to our points champion Graham Morrison number 1,there is going to be a raffle held after the final at all our 2010 fixtures at Buxton ,the winner being the driver at the next meeting! also there will be a hire car available at Buxton meetings during 2010. For those who dont know Graham he,s the driver who holds the silver & chequered roof at Buxton ,but better known as the man who builds all of Jack Aldridge,s championship winning cars,[national ministox ] so his building skills are second to none. He,s quite happy to give advice and help to anyone who is considering joining this exciting formula ,whether it be advice on building a car ,converting a national mini, etc,or even information on cars for sale so contact Graham on 0779 6307570
