Kings Lynn - 7/11/09 - Saloons ‘Bonfire Saturday’ and as tends to be the case a number of excellent looking meetings to pick from. In the end I stayed local and went to watch the saloons at Kings Lynn. High 30’s in terms of car numbers and as always excellent action.
A lower grade benefit to be honest and particularly well done to Kris Woods for a fine heat and final double, even surviving a last bend hit from Jamie Sampson to take the final win. As mentioned elsewhere the shale action in this class during 2009 has been nothing short of brilliant. I hear plans are a foot to change things next year with tarmac racing in mind but as far as the shale goes if it isn’t broke don’t fix it!
Support came from the TSR Bangers, which featured one massive roll which saw the driver simply put the car into first and drive away, top stuff. Also Pre 70 bangers, which I must confess to quite enjoying. The effort put into preparing some of these stunning machines is amazing.
Can’t finish without a word for Buster and the track preparation team. The surface was smooth and fast, there was no dust and it didn’t need watering all night. Your are a credit to the sport.
First proper cold meeting of the year, two pair of socks and gloves needed! Oh, and the fireworks were excellent. A great night out.
