PostSubject: Skegness 11th October V8 Hotstox World Final + F1 Shootout   Sun Sep 21, 2014 11:10 pm

Now this weekend is out the way; we are now on count down to the V8 Hotstox World Final at Skegness - Saturday 11th October.

Those who stuck around after Northampton today may have seen a V8 Hotstox getting some hot laps with NZ34p Rebecca Barr at the wheel in preparation for the big race. Rebecca is one of the top Superstox drivers with great credentials to her name; NZ Under23's Stockcar champs 3rd place, the youngest Female racing a Superstock in NZ History and she was the first female to win a feature race at Palmerston North Speedway - Craig Heibner Mermorial. She has some great racing pedigree. - which could mean potential 4 ladies take their place in the big race - the most ever of an adult class?

With a WQ round left to go; full build up and preview will be posted in due course. 2013 was a fantastic race as i'm sure many will remember. I'm sure the 2014 running won't disappoint.

The night also see's a F1 shootout round and F2's; a meeting surely not to be missed!

That's it; the last WQ races are done; the next one is the big one!

The grid is still being confirmed, but the front two rows will be locked out by Kevin Stuchbury (131), Karl Hawkins (175), Simon Sykes (64) and Darren Cottrill (575)

It's going to be a good race!

Saturday 11th at Skegness will not just be about the World Final; another equally important race takes centre stage in the meeting Final; the Bob Radforth memorial. Bob lost his battle with cancer World Final night 2009. A true gent; we remember him with this race. R.I.P. Bob.

PostSubject: Re: Skegness 11th October V8 Hotstox World Final + F1 Shootout   Fri Oct 10, 2014 9:30 am

In the last few days of his title reign, record breaking WF winner Chris Bracher sums up his V8 Hotstox career, World Final wins and tips who will take top honours in the big race:

ĎI have had lot of ups and downs. The first years of racing was with no pressure and when I had the most fun. When I had a year out and got back into racing again in 2007, the racing changed for me. I was 23 and wanted to get my name on a big trophy! I spent a lot of time on set up and my Dadís engines was getting better and better. 2009 was the hardest year of my racing career, the standard of drivers that year was so high with the Parker team, The Smiths, Mark Allen, Chris Fort and Kevin Stuchbury all fighting for the top spot.

2010 was when it all fell right for me at Buxton. The first of four World Final wins!! That was an awesome day, I lead it from the restart. Belle Vue the next year was the most pressure I've ever had to win a race. I wanted to show I am the number 1 driver in the V8 Hotstox not just a one year wonder. The Birmingham WF wasn't too bad because all the pressure was on Kev and Rory Foster to win. I got lucky in the first bend and drove away, i didn't make a mistake. Plus I won that race on 7 cylinders, one of the plugs leads fell off after I hit Rory first bend. I never really told anyone before. Oh I won the points that year too. Coventry was an epic race. I think that will be the race I will always be remembered for. I started 10th row outside and had a crash at the start and come back to win the race with no yellow flags! The car was awesome that night and we only raced that car once that year too.

Then will come on to this year, went to Buxton for the European, I had a good day & won it! I went to Stoke for the British in July, which was not such a good day. I had a crash in the main race and they have since found my brain has dropped and I tore my shoulder. I can't race even if I wanted too after that.

I would never change anything in my racing career, but my time is up and on to the next chapter in my life. I've always said I can't believe I've won the world final. I made a lot of friends in the v8 hotstox and I would always advise anyone to go and have ago, Ryan has really enjoyed racing my car this year he was surprised how good they are to race.

Anyway thatís enough about me. Whoís going to win the race this year? You've got to say Kevin 131. He is the fastest man out there, the most experienced and has won it before Ė he knows what to do. Karl Hawkins is young, but has had a very good year, a bit of bad luck at the moment but if he wants it heís got to get rid of Kevin. Simon 64 starts behind Kevin so could sort both boys out on the front row. It would be nice to see Darren 575 win it mainly because heís finished 2nd to me at Cov and Belle Vue. Darren has been in the sport a long time and he has always been up there in the big races, maybe it's his turn. I know he is a few rows back, but Adam Joyce 157 is very fast and a very talented driver, not scared of using the front bumper; so I will be watching him come through the pack. I can't really see anyone else winning unless there is a big crash and these boys get taken out. I think it's going to be a good race, but if Kevin gets away from the start it's his!!í

Good luck boys and girls

Christopher Bracher
World champion 2010 2011 2012 2013
National points champion 2012
European champion 2014

So; what do some of the key drivers on the grid think?

Karl Hawkins 175
ĎIím looking forward to it, you never know what to expect in a race like that. It could go from good to bad in a second! No one wants that number 1 more than me.í

Hayley Williams 26
ĎIím really excited and fairly confident in the car. My aim is to finish in the top ten, but it would be a dream come true to win it; thatís what Iíll be aiming to do.í

Kevin Stuchbury 131
ĎEveryone gets excited about this race, but I try and treat it as any other race. It doesnít matter how quick you are, anything could happen, thatís why you need a bit of luck. Iím going to be giving it 110% and hopefully it will pay off.í

Darren Cottrill 575
ĎIím not expecting too much being tarmac; so itís just another race to me. As long as itís a good race.í

Phoebe Wainman 211
ĎIím really looking forward to the World Final as I havenít started this far up before. I know the race is going to be carnage; everyone is out there to win and everyone will do whatever it takes to become number 1. Iím expecting a lot of contact; but I am really excited.í
