PostSubject: It's not big and it's not clever   Sun Oct 18, 2015 8:07 pm

I've never seen anything like what I witnessed at NIR today.

Something should be done for the good of the sport.

This NSSO is lining up to be the best by a country mile with at least 5 or 6 drivers in with a shout of winning it.

It shouldn't be allowed to be tarnished by the actions of a singleton.

You cannot argue if its stock car racing.

At Skeggy World Champion Rob Speak decided to take out Lee Fairhurst, his main rival as he sees it.
Nothing wrong with that. It was a racing move.

Lee, top bloke that he is dished it straight out in the next race.

Rob, proper driver that he is won't complain and will probably respect Lee for it and just laugh about it.

If a drivers comes out into play with notes on his car relating to other drivers and then acts in the way he did it cannot be constrewed in any other way than premeditated.

I don't sign up to this "team racing" argument that's being banded about.

Rob Speak doesn't need any driver to fight his battles for him.

Let's hope we don't see any more daftness like we witnessed today.

I was quite relaxed about who I wanted to win the NSSO but actually after today my interest lies with 217 and his quest to add silver to his multitude of titles.

You know jealousy is a terrible thing and maybe it narks some others that Team Fairhurst ( with their relatively modest budgets) and heritage F1 tar car ( sorry didn't mean it), can turn in unbelievable performances week in and week out.

That young lad has incredible talent and the ridiculousness of today won't prevent him winning many many many more titles in the years to come.

A1... You do realise that once Tom's step mother sees this post, your history. Been nice knowing ya A1 lol! ...

Secondly... There are probably only 3x drivers who i would not pull a stroke like that on. And neither Frankie, or Sworder are in that shortlist. 217 is!.
We all heard 515 after dan johnson stuffed him through the fence in shootout final at B.V. Sleep ..
Or Mal Browns gonna do this that or the other claimed stoxnet posters, after 197 took the urine. Sleep .
217 however, is a different fish.
Cool & calm as you like but an assasin.. Cool

Love to Sausage but I was banned from Stoxnet in 2006.

It's a lifetime ban without the possibility of parole by all accounts.

Good post a1. I felt annoyed that it happened and for a while felt annoyed that lee got sucked into being part of it. But in the moment it's the red mist that takes over I guess.
The highlight for me was the slow motion jog by yourself around turn 3/4. The only thing missing was chariots of fire music.

What you are forgetting in all this Neil is that stock car drivers have very long memories so we probably can't even remember what this 'payback' was for but Tom will know, and these grudges are what we all pay our money to watch.
Maybe Tom's actions on Sunday were not the best way of dealing with it but with the shale car sold and no more tarmac meetings left this season then he perhaps thought it was now or never.
As has been mentioned on the other side it has often been said that the best time to get revenge is when it matters most to the other driver so stopping Lee in a shootout tarmac final was probably the perfect time from Tom's point of view.
Anyone who has raced stockcars on a regular basis for more than about 3 months will have a 'hit list' irrespective of what grade they were and what formula they were competing in.

P.S. Funny that you should mention team racing but omit the most obvious example of that from Sunday afternoon. Wink

I was nipping back to the car for a extra layer for my little boy.

Next time I'll run a little faster.

I think you'll find I said " I don't sign up to this team racing " suggestion.

Drivers have access to loads of cars so I wouldn't completely rule out that being the last appearance of 84.

As you rightly mention paybacks part of the game and taking somebody out with a well timed hit is part and parcel. But driving like that, to quote the title thread " isn't big and isn't clever"

As for the other suggestion of " team" racing.

I assume you mean Mick Sworder slowing down to allow Stuart Smith ( brother of Andy Smith who's shale car Mick has and enlists his help) to beat him across the line.

Well I was late arriving so didn't see it from where I was so cannot possibly comment. 👍
