| As taken from Brisca F2 website.....
The F2 Stock Car Racing Board of Control met on Tuesday 14 October 2008, to hear an appeal from #7 Gordon Moodie, against the length of his suspension from racing: ie: until the start of 2010. All relevant information was given full consideration, and whilst appreciating Rule 151 does confirm a driver is liable to a maximum penalty of a life ban if found with an illegal engine, it was considered that a reduction in the suspension from racing was appropriate.
The driver had already lost the gold and silver roof for 2008, and broken his current run of point’s championship wins.
He may return to racing on 1 July 2009. |

| Heard this on Saturday Night unofficially.
Back in time for the last couple of World Qualifiers. I wouldn't bet against him being at the sharp end of the world final next year especially with the semi's at Taunton where he always seems to fly. |

| No disrespect to Gordon or his army of fans but, I feel that the original ban was appropriate given the high profile of the driver, the titles at stake and the sport of F2 racing.
He was found to be illegal. How long was he running illegal ? how many drivers and fans has he cheated ? 1 year ban should've been mandatory and even if his sentance is reduced he should not be allowed to return until after next years F2 world.
Just my opinion. |

Bozz, the profile of the driver, or in what race he was found to be illegal are highly irrevelant. If it was a yellow top driver who was found to be illegal then it is highly likely they would have been racing again before the curtains were drawn on the 2008 season. as has been mentioned many times since the f2 world, another driver was found to be illegal on a carburetter and was only handed a 1 month ban. So why should Gordon not be given the same ban? its very fair his ban was shortened so much!!! |

| Well, firstly wasn't Gordon banned for more than a carb issue ?
Secondly, the profile and race circumstances are highly relevant given that arguably Gordon is the top F2 driver that won the most prestigeous F2 race. The fact that he raced an illegal car and therefore made a mockery of the event and brought the F2 sport into dissrepute is in my opinion worthy of the original sentance. It would and should also set a presedence for any future cases of the same illegal race parts.
The other driver you mention, has he been found to have the same illegal part ? and was he using softener too ? if he was then he ought to be out for 12 months too.
Just to make it clear, I have nothing against Gordon personally, I think he is an incredibly talented driver, one which I really enjoy watching. I find it totally incredulous that Gordon ran illegally because he doesn't need to. |

| For the record, On the eve of the 1983 Superstox WF, Neil Bee (reigning world champ) was found to have engine "irregularities" and banned for 12 months.....which seems in keeping with GM's ban. |

| Just read half a dozen pages on ftooz.......seems that Brisca F2 cant make much stick so have reduced the sentance. The tyres were initially mentioned but now seemingly not. |

| Sounds like F2 to me rules they can't enforce which is why i have some sympathy with Moodie, he's just the unlucky one to get caught possibly because theyre extra vigilant with him and a few others |

| I agree with Bozz here It's the punishment fitting the crime as occurs in all branches of judiciary. If caught driving whilst using your mobile you will get a fine. If you kill someone whilst driving and using your mobile you will go to jail, but the offence is the same. The higher profile the crime, the higher the level of punishment. Simple. |

| Whether or not Moodie has knowingly cheated or not, I don't know. It's all very confusing.
However, what BriSCA F2 need to realise from the past few years is that the rule book has become over complicated. It's no one's fault necessarily, but it's simply the result of updates being applied to it year in year out. The whole thing needs rewriting to simplify it - not an easy job, I know. If everyone knows where the line is and it's easily checked, then a lot of the controversy of the last few years will disappear. F2 have a great product, but the confusion over tyres, engines, carbs, ballast etc is turning drivers and spectators away.
For me, the ideal situation would be to say standard parts only - no race tuned parts at all. I remember when you could be competitive with a Pinto picked up in a scrapyard. That's never going to happen though is it? |

| Moodie had no reason to cheat, he's a fantastic driver and he's gone down in my books. No reason to cheat therefore deserves the ban. A true champ never cheats! |
