PostSubject: NZ Superstock Champs   Thu Feb 25, 2010 3:09 pm

Coming weekend its the second attempt to run the NZ Superstock Champs and Kev Smith is booked in for another go - he qualified well first time around but blew his engine. So due to the delay in organising the feature based on the original qualifiers, every one starts from scratch to qualify for the NZ1, 2 & 3

Last weekend Peter Rees picked up the Stockcar NZ1 title in a new tank and will be going for the pair! Qualifying will be Sat morning and finals on Sunday morning both UK time .

Good luck Kev

Shame but Kev will not be racing - assume it's engine woes , Marcia did not say why on Macgors.

Cracking meeting tonight not so much mega crashes but great racing and the track was in superb condition
compared to the first try at the event a few weeks back. Roll on 4am tomoz should be a cracking finals night.
Great to see 491i Cambell McManaway make it as he has to travel miles to race in the north island the one way trip to
get to Kihikihi was around 940 miles.

WOW what a meeting cracking racing and a unbelivable ht3. heres how ht3 panned out going into ht3
the points were 1nz Ngati-49pts 3nz Higgins-44pts,7n Boote-43pts 10p Rees-42pts 58p Bengston-40pts 54p Humphreys-38pts lap 1 32p Greame Barr got rolled
then on lap 3 one of the joblins puts 3ns in the wall but as they bounce out joblin catches 10p Rees who then rolls.
Lap 6 31p puts 1nz up the wall and rolls coming back down then 31p spins out 7n. with 2 laps to go it looks like 58p is going to
be the new nz champ but it was not to be as 7n nailed 58p into the wall and both rolled.after the chequared droped
54p and 3nz were tied on points so needed a run off and Higgins won it.5 roll overs in 1 race superb stuff.
What a race best ive ever seen thanks speedbox for showing it live.

result
1st Brendan Higgins-1nz
2nd Bevan Humphreys-2nz
3rd Murray Long-3nz

Thanks for the update Trav, sounds like a classic and I made the wrong choice of Internet viewing last night/this morning.

I stayed up to watch the rain delayed Nationwide race from Las Vegas instead of getting up early to watch the NZ Champs Exclamation
Compared to the last 2 weekends of Nascar, was a pretty dull race.

With all this internet viewing, you will need to think of updating your nickname - something like TravNet Laughing

It was a fantastic meeting on Sunday, that last race was unbelievable. 5 of the cars in the top 7 ended on their roofs/sides!!! One of the best Superstock meetings i have seen in a long while (excluding teams).
