Final on shale, so put the semi on the fastest/hardest track for the shale drivers to qualify on. Hmmm.

I notice in F1 and F2 they both have a world of Shale but no world of Tar. Is this because we always have the Euro champs on Tar?

I agree too. But when you consider the tar/shale experts.......that just leaves Bradbury and Moodie to fight it out in 2011 at Lynn. Better make sure No 7 comes second at Hedno......

In F2 they have the Central League, which is points scored at Birmingham, Hednesford, Northampton and Buxton throughout the season. Final in November.

The F2 World of Shale was brought in to give the shale drivers something to race for each season as around 90% of the major titles take place on tarmac. The 1993 World Final at Crewe was the first on shale since Wembley in 1974 !!

The F1 World of Shale is an unofficial title invented by Startrax.

Coventry are only affiliate members of BriSCA F2 rather than full members and are therefore not on the rotation list for the major title events.

But what's official Dave? What is a major?
I'd like the F1 Grand National Championship to be a major as a reward to the drivers who don't load up early and whom at Coventry, Sheffield and Kings Lynn sometimes put on the best race of the night only to parade round in front of a dozen or so spectators.
Then there is the much heralded but easily forgotten Internations Cup vastly overshadowed by the World Championship the night before.
Remember the WoS being over 3 days at Stoke-Belle Vue-& Belle Vue on consecutive nights or was it called something else like Masters of Shale?.
In the 70's at Sheffield they had the Steel City Cup which had a reasonable £££pot if my memory serves me, far more than the UK Open or Euros at the time, it all depended on what a driver found more attractive I suppose, cash or a tin pot.

Anyway, back to the Tooz.....tarmac semi, shale final.....ha ha brilliant and nuts at the same time.

It's not that much of a surprise Cowdenbeath doesn't get many F2 title races.
Once you take out the Scottish, English, Irish, WOS and Euro which is obviously always at NIR your only left with 6.

World Kings Lynn
Semi Finals Hednesford
British Belle Vue
BSCDA Benevolent Fund Barford
F2 Nationals Taunton
Grand National Taunton

With 17 (i think) tracks south of the border Scotland can only really expect to get on average one of these every 3 years. I know it isn't worked out exactly like that but you get the idea.

That doesn't explain why Taunton has two of the 6 right enough scratch

F2 WF roster is set years in advance, other championships, apart from the European, have to be applied for by individual promoters year on year.

If you dont apply, you dont get a chance !

It aint bad planning, it happens every year. I remember missing the semi's at Arena years back because it was the gold cup. Unfortunently, not every f2 / saloon / f1 fixture can run without clashing with something

wouldnt take much for all the governing bodies to get together and sort the dates out , you would think its in there interests , if only 50 people missed a date because of clashing @ £20 a go thats a grand ! anyway bb wont affect you hot rodding at ipswich once a month next season lol!

Carlton,

Are you implying that only the tracks that have majors this year, are the only ones that applied for anything, thus forcing the people that decide, to give some tracks '2' majors?

I know the World is not included in the decisions making, as thats set well ahead, but the other events?

So potentially, Cowdie, Bristol, Buxton, Skeggy didn't apply for any of the other majors? Obviously, if they did, they were overlooked for whatever reason?
