PostSubject: STOKE LIVES ON!   Tue Nov 25, 2014 1:36 pm

Tuesday 25th November 2014

Last week Potters Speedway & Stock Car bosses were left reeling after thousands of pounds of vandalism wrecked key equipment at the Loomer Road Stadium in Chesterton.

Upon discovering the extensive damage on Monday 17th November, Potters Speedway boss Dave Tattum was left desperately questioning the future of the venue faced with a massive repair and clean up bill.

However, overwhelmed by support from the racing community and locally, Loomer Road is on the way back. Promoters Dave Tattum and Steve Rees jointly said ‘ We have been extremely heartened at the many, many calls and e-mails offering support from both speedway and stock car/Banger fans with even one of the venues Banger drivers assisting in procuring a replacement PA system. Speedway and stock car fans have offered to raise funds and we are both looking at ways of harnessing the support to complete repairs. It really has been inspiring’

The duo have been working hard against he clock readying the venue for an important BANGER RACING event, the Pride of the Potteries which takes place at Loomer Road on Sunday 30th at This event is definitely going ahead and the organisers are hoping for a good crowd as the much needed revenue will assist in completing further works.

Rees added ‘ Loomer Road is an old stadium that needs tender loving care but it is a vital part of the community and from a racing perspective attracts considerable support from drivers from throughout the area and with major events now being staged here, it is becoming a highly regarded venue in racing circles which also brings support in from outside the region which assists local businesses such as shops, petrol stations, takeways and hotels with incremental income. It’s vital that the stadium is kept alive. The first step back is this coming Sunday which with over 120 drivers entered from across the UK, fans can do their bit by turning out in force to show their support and provide vital revenue’

Details of Sunday’s event may be found on
