PostSubject: Worth a try?   Fri Feb 03, 2017 12:30 am

Well after the recent petitions on our goverments website it got me thinking......
How about we all collate a petition to put forward and help preserve our countries leisure designated land/our culture and communities?
Something along the lines of :- All land designated for leisure use can't be redesignated unless an alternative site is provided (with all planing permissions approved and costs covered) prior to redesination; so long as there is a proven need for the facility. Should an owner of the land wish to sell up then the land must only be sold to someone who wishes to actively use the land (within 1 year) for the same use. Employees/club members and users of the facility must also be made aware of the sale as soon as possible and be given the opportunity to raise funds (6 months time limit?) to buy the land if they wish.
This would be a petition which is not focused just on our own sport but one which would garner support from ALL sports; football/rugby/horse racing/fishing/tennis/bowls ect.
I'm sure we would soon hit 100,000 signatures and hopefully get this debated in parliament if the word is spread amongs ALL sports.
This would slow the erosion of our culture and deter money grabbing property developers from destroying our pastimes for their own gains.

Well that fell on dearf ears.
For anyone interested in the planning side of things, this page tells of some powers a local council can enforce on a site (article 4 makes an interesting read but world heritage status may be out of reach) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/when-is-permission-required
