PostSubject: Race goers PPE   Sat May 25, 2013 12:25 am

Just anticipating a few groans about dust this weekend and so I thought I would forward a few tips on what to wear......its a bit like going out in the rain without a rain coat (theres no such thing as bad weather its all about dressing for the conditions). So heres a few ideas that might even start a trend and be a money spinner for the track shops.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/China-Made-Cycling-Airsoft-Wind-Dust-Black-Goggles-G07-/140533917613?pt=UK_SportingGoods_SportsSunglasses_SM&hash=item20b87967ad (these can be obtained in various coloured frames and lens options and can be worn with these to keep your hair clean (if you have any) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Balaclava-winter-warm-cotton-motorcycle-under-helmet-balaclava-/121100055816?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item1c32203508
Then for those who like to get up close and personal at the likes of Kings Lynn how about these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251079222084?var=550141933485&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 (that should save you from a pebble dashing and there's room for spectacles under them by the looks of it). There are many more styles out there with skull/vampire ect designs but these are some of the cheapest I've seen Wink
Ps. Don't worry about any import duty/taxes from China ect as goods under 15 are exempt. If unsure check here http://www.dutycalculator.com/ (top tip for Mr Hines this one I think Embarassed ).

Goods under 15, or equivalent foreing currency on daily issued customs exchange rate, ordered from anywhere outside the EC are duty and Vat free. If you declare you are testing them to destruction, I could even squeeze through goods at any value as customs charges free, but you might have to prove it to customs if they audit you !!

I did see a couple of fence dwellers at Lynn wearing goggles. Believe Carl H might have been seen in them on occasion to.

Never knew about the testing to destruction bit Pedro.......could be useful (just off to see if Cecil has a branch in Taiwan lol! ).
As for the PPE I noticed a few in the red/very brown zone at KL too (I think a couple of the early racers caught a few non regulars out again No ) . I usually try to get a bit of a theme going for crowd participation for the world final.......it worked a bit for one with the Chinese lanterns Smile but I thought this more practicle if you did not want to spend on the grandstand and still get right up close in a safer manner than without pirat
Here are some that may be thought of as more trendy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Multi-UV-Lens-Wind-Dust-Airsoft-Black-Bike-Goggle-NV130-/280711543024?pt=UK_Protective_Equipment&hash=item415bb638f0

Before the 5hit hits the fans. Would it be prudent for promotors to offer for sale suitable PPE/warnings on tickets to prevent this incident http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/8203-Mallory-Park-Motorsport-fined-1-000-injury/story-22952330-detail/story.html and help preserve the sports future? Maybe there is already enough warnings in place to prevent this occurring on our ovals but prevention is better than cure.

Well first of all best wishes for a speedy recovery to the person hit by debris at Northampton last night. With this coming so soon after my post I almost feel psychic but i don't believe in that stuff. Lets hope this person doesn't try to do a similar thing as the guy who was at Mallory Park. Like i said......be prudent and advise spectators of the dangers on their tickets and where to obtain basic ppe prior to viewing; this then puts the onus onto the the spectators.
